Hi Sapphires, I though you may like to create a computer program or a cartoon at home, so thought I would post the tutorials I used in class for you to be able to practise at home, if you have access to scratch. Have fun! 1. LESSON SCREENCAST PART 1 http://www.screencast.com/users/stueyteach1/folders/Jing/media/3edb7def-4948-4a3a-916c-995cac245ddd

Look at the photos below to see how you have extended out arms and legs, in addition to pointing out toes and fingers! Great 'stuff', Sapphire!
Hi all, As discussed today, you can do the home learning project on World War I if you like as you enjoyed finding out about life in the trenches today. This is an optional piece of home learning. You DO NOT have to do it! However, it is important that you do complete a home learning project, if not on World War I, on one of the other themes we've been looking at this term. See class newsletter below for details. In Sapphire Class today, we had a very unusual visitor - a witch! She was a little confused about her name, the children tell me. I don't know as I wasn't there but they tell me that she asked them to create a 'Dragon Calling Potion'! How bizarre! Apparently she explained that her dragon was rather elderly and could no longer take her on long journeys, therefore she had to find a new one... well, when I got back in the room, there was a rather big mess - severed fingers all over the place, a few eyeballs and wizards' stars (to mention but a few) littered the classroom. Seemingly, we have to pour it into the sensory garden tomorrow and say the spell to actually call the dragon! Whatever next...
Today we played a new Maths game called 'Strike It Out'. The children really enjoyed it so I am saving the link here:
http://nrich.maths.org/6589 Try it out again (or, for the group of girls who were out of class with Mr Gunn, have a go; it really is a fun way to get better at mentally adding and subtracting). We have been learning about how to make strong structures in preparation for making our 'twin' Spinnaker Towers. The design brief was to make a structure (bridge or chair) from K'Nex which was stable and strong enough to withstand the weight of not one... but THREE dictionaries. Some of our structures have not been finished and, therefore, have not yet been tested. Others were tested but did not meet the design brief (could not withstand the weight of three dictionaries). However, one - made by our budding technology 'expert' - was stable and strong. Below is a picture of Stephen and his amazing structure!
Hi Sapphires,
Below is the home learning for this week. As discussed, please could you try and find some pictures of structures and either print them out or draw them for our D&T classroom display. To Mums, Dads, Grandmas, Grandads... Sapphire Classworked really hard last term to earn their 100 gems. They have chosen to have a class party on Wednesday afternoon. I would be very grateful if you could send in either 50p towards the cost of some party food or get the children to bring in some party food on Wednesday. The children can bring in some sensible party clothes to change into on Wednesday but MUST come into school in their uniforms. Thank you for your support. |
